Soaking up sun, water & wind

We are currently soaking up all the good stuff... fresh air, warm sun and breathtaking scenery! Presently, we are vacationing in beautiful Lake George located in the Southern Adirondack region in upstate New York. A perfect relaxing vacation, in a resort right along the lake. Here is a view from our lodge

And even while away at this resort, we are trying to be 'Happy Campers'... cooking us comfy little simple meals with the fewest ingredients. Here is something we cooked up the other day. Any guesses what it might be? I'll post details and the recipe in a couple of days... Enjoy!

Lake George is on our 'next place to visit' list. Tell me about all the things to do and where to eat?

Gini - Lake George is such a quiet retreat... There are plenty of water activities to enjoy canoeing, boating, water skiing etc. We were slightly early in the season, so less crowds everywhere. Summer in this area is supposed to begin after June 24.

You can take a steamboat cruise along the lake, walk along the many small beaches and 'boardwalk'. We rented a small scootcar and drove around the town. Plenty of scenic drives around Rt9N. Also a 2 hour drive to Lake Placid is really Scenic. There are many hiking trails here. Overviews at Prospect Mountain is also a great look out point. Also many fun bike routes and all day bike rental facilities are around.

About where to eat... we didnot eat out much as we had a lodge with kitchentte where we tried to cook / BBQ most of the time. We did go out to a Mexican restaurant - SJ Garcia's - but didnot think it was very good. So I would recommend you skip that :)

The stores and shops in the Lake George Village are also fun to explore.
Hope this helps... If I remember anything else, I'll let you know.

GM,
Is that a subzi with 'Sev'? Whatever it is, I am looking forward to the recipe.

Hey GM! Lake George brings back many memories of upstate NY for me. We lived further up in the boonies from Lake George on a lesser known finger lake of the Adirondacks called Friends Lake. This was about 8 years ago.

We drove up there again a couple of years ago and I couldn't believe how much the spruce forests had changed. It was really quite sad.

Are you going to try your hand at parasailing? It's one of the most fun activities at LG. Never did it myself cos I got sick to my stomach looking at the guy floating way up there, held by that rope to the boat below.

You are very early in the season if it is quiet out there. It used to be like one giant mela!

Is that macaroni cheese with tadka?

Hey all - Thanks for leaving your comments and playing along with my guessing game. Most of you have it right... in the ballpark! The mystry dish is Sev Tameta... and easy to make one with snack ingredients. I do promise I will post the recipe soon! I am currently on vacation and have grossly underestimated the amount of time I will have for blogging!

Manisha - Yes, Lake George is a great quiet retreat. We didnot get to try out parasailing... partly because it was too early in the season, and I am too chicken to try it myself or let anyone else under my control to try it!

LG - Thanks for letting me know that you acknowledged my tag! I read your meme post a while back too!
